AYURVEDIC CONSULTATIONS, LONDON NW1
In Ayurveda, our foods and our lifestyle are our medicine. Healing modalities include foods, lifestyle, pranayama, relaxation, meditation and herbal remedies – treatments that use plants and prana to help us heal and thrive. Rather than looking at your symptoms and bodily systems in isolation, Ayurveda sees illness as a malfunction of your underlying energy, your life force (called prana, or chi) and treats this energy imbalance in order to restore your whole being to health. Living Ayurvedically means living in accordance with your unique elemental nature –your personal balance of earth, water, fire, wind and space. It ends confusion about what to eat, about which food trend or diet to follow, and means you discover what your body and digestion actually need. It explains why what worked for your friend doesn't work for you! When you don't live like this, your body doesn't function at its optimum level.
Ayurvedic health coach Jacqui Gibbons uses Ayurvedic diagnostic techniques such as tongue analysis, pulse reading and careful observation to assess your elemental nature (prakriti), and creates a health plan to correct imbalances (vikriti) and help you thrive. She treats digestive problems including constipation, bloating, IBS and IBD, weight gain, PMS, fatigue, anxiety, skin conditions, type II diabetes and more.
Jacqui has a warm, supportive and practical approach, and honours your individuality and unique health needs. She has eight years' experience successfully treating London professionals, and is very pragmatic about incorporating Ayurveda into living in London. Jacqui helps not only clients who've found modern medicine's symptoms-only, non-holistic treatments unsuccessful, but also those who don't have an illness but feel they aren't thriving.
She trained in 2007-09 with leading Ayurvedic physicians and teachers Atreya Smith and Dr Sunil V Joshi, She is a member of the Ayurvedic Professionals Association, and is also a trainee yoga teacher on triyoga's two-year programme (2017-19).
Ayurveda is lifestyle medicine. For thousands of years, it has used what you eat and how you live as its key healing modalities – and the way to be healthy and prevent disease in the first place. Modern medicine is coming to this same realisation that how we live affects our health. But Ayurveda goes deeper than the modern approach: it shows us how to live in a way that suits our unique mind/body type, that's personalised to our own DNA, rather than one-size-fits-all advice.
Ayurvedic medicine can't be reduced to a vitamin tablet or the latest 'superfood'. Just popping a pill – even a herbal one – is not the answer. Instead, our underlying energy pattern, or prana, is the foundation of our health. Rebalancing our mind, body, emotions and underlying energy is the way back to health. Jacqui's goal for you is vibrant health and happiness at all levels of your being: not just physical but mental, emotional and spiritual too.
